Acer Aspire 4755G

The original Timeline series was one of the more impressive additions to the Intel CULV category, which appeared last year. While it was not the first (the MSI X-Slim X340 was one of the pioneers), the Aspire 3810T and 3810TG were significantly more powerful than Netbooks but offered the same excellent battery life.

The latest generation, the TimelineX, departed from the low-powered CULV camp and hopped onto the Core-i bandwagon. Surprisingly, Acer has managed to keep the machines at the same price point as the previous models despite offering mainstream processing power. Unfortunately, the laptop climate has changed in the last few months. With Core i3 machines being offered for under S$1,000 and Core i5 laptops hovering at the S$1,300 mark, the TimelineX is a little too pricey, which is out of character for the value brand. Still, if you want portability with the performance of a midsized laptop, the TimelineX 3820TG can deliver.
